Photo - Steve Stricker Steve Stricker became the first PGA Tour winner of 2012 with a three shot victory at the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii. The 44 year old carried a five stroke advantage into the final round at Kapalua’s Plantation Course and although Martin Laird, Webb Simpson and Jonathan Byrd all put him under significant pressure, he did enough to close out the win. Rooney, Gustafson, Faxon Honored by GWAA

HOUSTON – Patriot Golf Day founder Major Dan Rooney, Sweden’s Sophie Gustafson and Brad Faxon have been honored with three prestigious awards given by the Golf Writers Association of America. of the USGA Women’s Committee

FAR HILLS, N.J. – The United States Golf Association has appointed Martha Lang, of Birmingham, Ala., to a second one-year term as chairman of the USGA Women’s Committee in 2012. Dot Paluck, of Bernardsville, N.J., will also serve another one-year term as vice chairman of the Women’s Committee, which advises the USGA Executive Committee in matters relating to women’s golf.
