Rose builds four-stroke lead at Cog Hill

Photo - Justin Rose LEMONT, Ill. - Justin Rose carded his third straight round in the sixties by shooting 69 in the third round at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club and built a lead of four strokes over Australia's John Senden. Another Aussie, Geoff Ogilvy, shares third with Bill Haas, five off the pace.

On a day that was a bit windy, Rose had three birdies and a lone bogey.

World No. 1, Luke Donald, improved his standing by 20 spots, moving into a tie for seventh after a 67. After opening with a 75 on Thursday, Donald has gone 66-67.

What was the difference today?

"Just found something a little bit in my swing," said Donald. "I think I was getting a little bit rushed from the top on Thursday. I hit too many poor shots, paid the penalties. Just didn't do a lot very well on Thursday, even had some short game errors. And just tightened it up the last couple days and been a lot more solid. I feel like I'm more in control of the golf ball and giving myself a lot of opportunities."

And, although he found "a little bit" his improved play has been felt in all areas of his game.

"Everything," he said. "Drove it better, high irons better, I putted better, my short game was better. None of it really worked very well the first day for some reason. I just got off to a horrible start. Proud of myself to get back in it and at least give myself a sniff."

That sniff could quickly end if Rose continues to play as he has all week.
